Workplace injury? If you’ve been injured on the job there are ways in which you can get the help you need. Workers compensation was put in place to help get employees the assistance that they need when they are hurt at work. Beyond your company’s workers compensation program, our trained physical therapists at Above and Beyond Physical Therapy in Queen Creek and Phoenix are here to help.

Find out if you qualify for workers compensation

Unfortunately, just because you’ve been injured at work does not mean that you qualify for workers compensation. Your workplace injury must fall under the following guidelines in order for you to be able to file a claim:

  • The injury must have occurred in the workplace.
  • You must not have been in the act of violating any company or state laws while becoming injured.
  • You must be a full-time employee, not a part-time, contract, or temporary worker.
  • You were not negligent in the causing of the accident.

If you can’t answer yes to any of the above questions then chances are your injuries will be ineligible for coverage under workers compensation.

File a claim with your employer

Filing a claim with your employer is the first step that you should take if you suffer an on the job injury. By informing your employer and filing a claim you are creating a record of the incident that will be referenced by your employer and their workers’ compensation insurance company. Without this record, it’s impossible to receive compensation under workers comp.

Seek medical help

Even if you don’t believe that your injury is severe, you should still seek medical attention from a practitioner. Many workers are surprised to find that what initially seems like just a bump or bruise on the surface is a more serious injury, such as internal bleeding, sprains, and other major problems.

Your doctor or physical therapist will not only evaluate and/or diagnose your injuries, but they will also inform as to what method of treatment you’ll need and when you can return to work. All of this information will be required by your employer as part of your workplace injury claim.

Don’t wait to seek treatment for a workplace injury or let your condition worsen. Waiting too long can complicate your claim. Contact Above and Beyond Physical Therapy today and let one of our experienced physical therapists help you recover and get back to work safely.
